This is quite an interesting conversion obviously done by the tradesman to suit his needs and is all part of the history of tools. The sole is an early type 1 Stanley with its original pre-lateral frog minus various parts and ground to make way for the cap iron. A traditional brass screw cap has been added to suit similar to that found on Norris type planes. Ironically this has a really nice look about it and makes a good conversational piece to the practices of the olden days where nothing went to waste. The tote and knob have had good past repairs to cracks but it has been done quite well and they are stable.
