This is approx 15 inches tall and would hold roughly gallon or more of fuel. I would have thought it was used for Kerosene oil or paraffin. The original brass is still present and is in good condition, although the main body has some a dents, see images.
These don’t turn up to often on eBay which usually indicates these could be scarce.
