Our plane stock levels in the website are currently low because they are simply selling faster than we can refurbish them at present, we do have good stocks but not enough hours in the week to keep up with demand. It’s important to us that standards are maintained and every plane has the correct attention needed to ensure it is suitable for fine woodworking.
We will endeavour to make sure our website has new stock every week of the planes but it may be some time before we can restore the plane stock levels that customers have been accustomed to, due to the production time these products take to get right.
Usually in the summer months when the workshop is super warm, we usually get time to ease off for some much needed rest and fresh air after a whole winter of graft enclosed in the workshops, usually working 7 days a week. It’s also a time when we restock and get ready for those winter months ahead and to also take stock of how we can set things up in the workshops for better efficiency for the year ahead.
We have taken on another workshop and storage space and have this to set up so this will also take up some of our time, along with the new website being developed which will be dedicated to antique tools, we hope this will fully operational at the beginning of 2021.
Lots of work but essential to develop a distinction between user tools and those that are collected by antique tool enthusiasts. It will also help those interested in the subject to gain new knowledge and bring an interesting aspect those who have considered collecting antique & collectable tools.
So please bare with us over the next couple of months, there will be plenty of vintage tools listed but there may be a few less planes than normal until we start getting into the autumn period and things cool down a bit in our workshops.
