This is one of our recently sold items:
ALTHOUGH JACK PLANES ARE GENERALLY COMMON THIS PLANE IS RATHER UNUSUAL FOR A NUMBER OF REASONS: IT CAME FROM A RETIRED RAILWAY GUY WHO HAD PICKED THEM UP DUE TO HIS INTEREST IN RAILWAY MEMORABILIA AND HE TOLD ME THE REASON THEY WERE EBONISED WAS TO STOP THE WORKERS FROM PINCHING THEM, WHY THIS WAS INLAID WAS PROBABLY SO THE USER COULD RECOGNISE THEM FROM OTHER PLANES USED BY CO-WORKERS.
THIS PLANE IS MARKED GWR 1074 AND HAS A I SORBY IRON.
THIS WOULD APPEAL TO BOTH TOOL AND RAILWAY MEMORABILIA COLLECTORS.
THIS IS ONE OF TWO WE HAVE HERE. I DOUBT VERY MUCH YOU WILL SEE ANOTHER FOR QUITE SOME TIME. THERE ISN’T ANYTHING LIKE IT ONLINE EITHER
