Refurbishment if applicable.
Every refurbished tool that is undertaken by us is revitalised not just by cleaning them but by rectifying the wear and reducing the need to do anything other than adding your personal preferences similar to when buying new. Our techniques have a proven track record that meet the demands of the professional craftsman whilst best practices are carried out when sharpening to ensure the tempering isn’t affected. Any repairs to tools are always mentioned in the main description but if undertaken you can be assured these will have been carried out with emphasis of restoring the original strength to that part, having said that NO tool that has been repaired by welding will ever be sold by us, we simply dismantle them and use the good parts, taking that tool out of circulation. Good refurbishment is important with used vintage tools to ensure not only to enhance performance but also to ensure no tool sold for use has any hidden defects. There is more involved than first meets the eye but refurbishment when carried out properly takes time to achieve, it also requires an understanding of how tools work and are maintained.
Tooltique
We are a second and third generation family business with spades of experience, we operate full time from our large workshop in Norwich refurbishing and selling Vintage & Antique tools.
We have a real passion for old tools mainly because they were made by toolmakers who took pride in their craft, where demands for quality and performance were paramount, especially back in the day when so many craftsmen were reliant on their hand tools.
Shipping
We use Hermes to send to all UK destinations whilst sourcing the best valued appropriate tracked services for overseas customers. Any over-payment of shipping charged by the website checkout to overseas buyers are refunded once they are booked in for collection.
Postage/Delivery time:
As you can appreciate there is a lot of work needed to bring these old tools back to life as a result we do get quite dirty when working in the workshop. We pack orders most days however cannot guarantee this but do our best to get things out as soon as possible, this is due to couriers and time of the order was placed, My Hermes generally collected the next working day (Excluding bank Holidays). So, depending on what day you order it will vary the delivery time. Please allow 5 working days for delivery for the UK.
Terms
We sell collectables and old usable tools that are refurbished to a high standard before being offered for sale. Used tools are not perfect and may have minor flaws due to wear and tear. Any major defects will be pointed out in the description above. All items are sold in an “as is” condition and have not been tested, however if reconditioning has been undertaken we use the best practices available to ensure the product is in good working order, ready to use.
Whilst best reasonable efforts are made to ensure usable items are brought up to a good standard, those expecting perfection from a used tool should consider buying new. Items described as ‘Antique’ or ‘Collectable’ are not usually sold for the purpose of use unless we state this in the description above. If the buyer decides to use an antique tool which does not state ‘ready for use’ it is the buyer’s responsibility for any additional costs to upgrade them for use.
If in doubts please ask as we are more than happy to help.
